What is depression?

Before finding out How can we get Rid of depression? We should know what depression really is. In simple terms depression is related to mood disorder, the act of sorrow and life without happiness. 1. Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

Major depressive disorder is a mood disorder characterized by a number of features 

  • Depressed thoughts
  • No interest in activities normally enjoyed
  • Changes in weight
  • Changes in sleep
  • Feelings of insignificance and regret 
  • Difficulty in Contemplation
  • Life ending thoughts

If a person continually feels the greater numbers of these symptoms for more than 15-20 days, so there is a possibility that they will be diagnosed with MDD.

2 Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD)

Persistent Depressive Disorder is a variety of illness that present for more than days but not more that two years. It can be mild, moderate, or severe.

Basically People might experience brief periods of not feeling depressed, but this relief of symptoms lasts for two months or less. While the symptoms are not as severe as major depressive disorder, they are pervasive and long-lasting.

PDD symptoms include:

  • Feelings of sadness
  • Loss of interest and pleasure
  • Anger and irritability
  • Feelings of regret
  • Low self-esteem
  • Difficulty falling or staying asleep
  • Too much Sleep
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Tired and feeling lack of energy
  • Trouble in focusing

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 1.5% of adults in the United States had persistent depressive disorder in the past year. The disorder affects women more than men, and researchers estimate that around 1.3% of all U.S. adults will have the disorder at some point during their lives.

3.Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder featured by periods of abnormally elevated mood known as mania. These periods can be mild or they can be so extreme as to cause marked impairment with a person’s life, require hospitalization, or affect a person’s sense of reality. The large majority of those with bipolar disorder also have episodes of major depression.

In addition to depressed mood and markedly diminished interest in activities, people with depression often have a range of physical and emotional symptoms which may include:

  • Fatigue, insomnia, and lethargy
  • Unexplained aches, pains, and psychomotor agitation
  • Hopelessness and loss of self-esteem
  • Irritability and anxiety
  • Indecision and disorganization

The risk of suicide in bipolar illness is about 15 times greater than in the general population. Psychosis (including hallucinations and delusions) can also occur in more extreme cases.

4.Postpartum Depression (PPD)

Pregnancy can bring about significant hormonal shifts that can often affect a woman’s moods. Depression can have its onset during pregnancy or following the birth of a child.

Currently classified as depression with per partum onset, postpartum depression (PPD).

Mood changes, anxiety, irritability, and other symptoms are not uncommon after giving birth and often last up to two weeks. PPD symptoms are more severe and longer-lasting.

Such symptoms can include:

  • Low mood, feelings of sadness
  • Severe mood swings
  • Social withdrawal
  • Trouble bonding with your baby
  • Feeling helpless and hopeless
  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Feeling inadequate or worthless
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Thoughts of hurting yourself or your baby
  • Thoughts of suicide

PPD can range from a persistent lethargy and sadness that requires medical treatment all the way up to postpartum psychosis, a condition in which the mood episode is accompanied by confusion, hallucinations, or delusions. 

If left untreated, the condition can last up to a year. Fortunately, research has found that treatments such as antidepressants, counseling, and hormone therapy can be effective.

How to Get Rid of Depression?

There are many so many factors that can help you to find a way from this Depression thing such as:-

1. Time

Have you heard this phrase? “Time heals everything” that’s right everything takes time whatever it is Results, Benefits, Karma, just remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. Same goes to depression you will get over it.

You have to just believe in yourself, just keep looking for a way out and convince yourself that everything will be fine. I can understand that it is very easy to say that Rome wasn’t built in a day, time heals everything, how to get rid of depression? Blah…Blah…Blah… !!! But look we have no other options left we have to fight and keep looking for the way out.

2. Meditation

Meditation is a great way. Yes, free medicine just start meditation everyday give yourself 15 minutes every day just close your focus on your head keep asking questions from yourself when i want to get out from this situation i am the only one who can help. Just do this thing fifteen minutes daily and I promise it will help you alot.

3. Spend time with family, especially with kids.

Spend your time with family specially with kids because kids gave you reason to smile because they live their life without any expectations without the tension of any upcoming problems they smile after every cry they find happiness in every small things so why we cannot live life like kids we know that there are so much responsibility on us but it doesn’t mean that we just waste our precious gift that is life Remember we die only once we live everyday

4. Find the Reason to live

Is there anything that can help us to get out of this thing? Yes there is one more thing that can help us to get out from this depression thing and that thing is Reason. Let me explain to you a little bit briefly. We should find out the reason why we can’t stay here for a long time.

We have to do so many great things our life, we have to get rid of it we have to grow in our life so we can’t just be stuck here man!!! just find out the reason why we should move on. Reasons can be anything it’s for our family, for our special friend, for our girlfriend/boyfriend, and most importantly for ourselves. You know whatever happens life goes on then why we are stopping our self.
